Most Attractive Place for Tourists

The capital of Great Britain, London, was called the most attractive place for tourists in the world; thus it left behind not only such cities as New York and Sydney, but also the idyllic resorts on Maldives and Barbados.

The world award in the field of tourism – World Travel Awards, which was determined by the means of voting of more than 160 thousand travel agents all over the world, was won by the British capital because of the combination of new mass institutions and stadiums, including the renewed “Wembley”, and the fascinating exhibitions, among which the famous “Terracotta Army” can be noted.

The victory on the World Travel Awards became the triumph of the year 2007, which was extraordinary for London. In June about million of people watched the start of the famous bicycle race “Tour de France”. The “Millennium Dome” was turned into the O2 Arena, on the stage of which appeared such stars as Prince, Barbara Streisand and Led Zeppelin; and nowadays, besides the “Terracotta Army” in British Museum, one more remarkable exhibition “Tutankhamen and the golden Age of Pharaohs” is taking place within the walls of O2 Arena.

World Travel Awards is considered to be the most prestigious in the tourist industry. Last year London was visited by the record number of foreign tourists – 15,6 millions, which is by 12% bigger than in the year 2005.

The tourist agency visit London received the award through video link with West-India, where, on December 13, the ceremony has taken place.
